Project Overview Map

Over the past six years, the Project Team has considered numerous alternatives. The gray lines on the map represent 18 different alignment combinations that were studied and reduced to three: the No Build, Alternative 1 (yellow), and Alternative 4 (turquoise).

Both alternatives carried through Detailed Studies followed the same online Route 228 path (looking west to east) until the area of Brickyard Road. The alternatives followed separate paths from this point through the school area. Alternative 1 remained on the existing alignment of Route 228, and Alternative 4 veered to the south, behind Mars Area High School. After the school area, both alternatives came together, following the existing alignment of Route 228 to Route 8.
